Last week on November 3, the Urban Incubator consortium, led by Gaia Consulting and LPR Architects, were among the top finalists competing in the Nordic Built Cities Challenge awards in Copenhagen. The competition highlights the need for innovative, people-centered and sustainable urban spaces and city planning.
Earlier this year the Urban Incubator team triumphed to become one of the top-four proposals in the local Finnish Kera Challenge. The concept of Urban Incubator addresses attractive and healthy living, corporate co-creation and inclusive participation. Gaia’s added value include sustainable design of old and new urban spaces, impact assessment, and participatory facilitation.
The competition underlines the Nordic countries’ strong know-how within smart solutions and urban planning, and confirms the export potentials also beyond the Nordic borders. It is evident that new innovative and attractive ways and forms of living are needed when global megatrends such as urbanization, climate change and digitalization are rapidly increasing their roles in decision making worldwide.
