Team Arctic Finland has packaged the Finnish Arctic know-how into five concepts that have already opened doors to international corporations. These concepts provide a practical way to export Arctic know-how and have already led to international business negotiations. Team Arctic was launched and is coordinated by Gaia and The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries.
Cooperation puts the companies of Team Arctic in a good position to offer a substantial selection of sustainable products and services for Arctic projects. This kind of collaboration provides a unique way to make high-level contacts and access large international projects in the Arctic.
“The strong Arctic know-how and the joint value of Team Arctic Finland’s companies in planning, implementing and operating Arctic projects have incited interest among international clients. Many discussions seem to be leading to new significant business initiatives. We have already reached our goal of 15 sales leads, and active negotiations with international corporations will continue,” says Business Director Pekka Pokela from Gaia.
Team Arctic’s concepts:
1) Maritime infrastructure and ports
The concept includes solutions for harbour building and operations, infrastructure, logistics and transportation, ice-breaking and weather services.
2) Industrial pre-feasibility and mine planning
The concept consists of solutions for utilizing Arctic land and water supplies as well as natural resources, e.g. logistics and infrastructure planning and information services.
3) Offshore production platforms, technologies and services for Arctic needs
The concept includes the planning, building and material handling of offshore structures as well as logistics and oil recovery solutions.
4) Shore-to-ship systems and solutions
The concept contains solutions for the support vessels and equipment, automation, ice-proof machinery and oil recovery needed in Arctic loading and transportation.
5) Hydro, tidal and industrial energy solutions and services
The concept consists of solutions for hydro and tidal power plants, water engineering and their infrastructure, logistics, information services and operation.
Team Arctic Finland is a cooperation model of 14 remarkable Finnish companies. It aims at creating new business opportunities in the Arctic market. According to Gaia’s preliminary study, the total value of the Arctic market from now until 2020 is approximately 240 billion euros.
